Systems Engineer

Aufgaben

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the engineering delivery of a wide variety of electro-optical and other systems produced by REUK, integrating in-house military off-the-shelf (MOTS) products with third-party MOTS and one-off system elements to deliver a tailored solution in response to each customer’s specific system requirements.

Working closely with the Systems Engineering Manager, product leadership, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and the PMO, this role involves a range of tasks covering all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including:

  • Requirements management
  • System design
  • Specification and design oversight of subsystems and system elements
  • Integration, verification and validation
  • Configuration management

This critical customer- and user-facing role takes a holistic view of the entire system and acts as a link between internal engineering teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from bid through to customer acceptance.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, capture and maintain both customer system and internal product requirements.
  • Act as the Design Authority for specific system projects, in direct support to project managers.
  • Communicate on a technical level with customers regarding engineering issues including compliance, design and verification & validation (V&V) plans.
  • Act as the Configuration Management lead at the system level.
  • Collaborate with engineers across the whole engineering team, working together to achieve the best possible product outcome for a given application.
  • Support Sales in the development of customer bids, and assisting during the pre-bid phase, including time/cost estimation for Systems Engineering work.


Main Tasks:

  • Planning and execution of integration, verification and validation strategies scaled to the needs of the programme, drawing from product-level verification where appropriate.
  • System architectural design, high-level system modeling and derivation of sub-component requirements, maintaining traceability of requirements through the product breakdown hierarchy.
  • Capture of new or updated product requirements, in collaboration with product owners, such as are required to meet customer requirements.
  • Create technical and project documentation.
  • Other tasks that may be required to support the business


The post is offered as a full-time position (37.5 hours per week)

Profil

Skills & Experience:

Essential Skills

  • STEM degree or equivalent demonstratable vocational experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in the process of requirements management.
  • Demonstratable experience in the verification and validation of complex systems
  • Strong ability to communicate technical with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to produce technical documentation for exposure to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with product configuration management processes.


Highly Desirable

  • Experience of the development lifecycle defined in functional safety standards IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
  • Experience of the military vehicle systems domain, and associated standards, including DEF STAN 00-082 (VIVOE), DEF STAN 23-09 (Generic Vehicle Architecture).
  • Experience of military environmental qualifications and associated standards, including DEF STAN 00-035, MIL-STD-810.
  • Knowledge of electro-optical systems, including thermal imaging (TI).
  • Knowledge of digital video processing
  • Familiarity with requirements and test management using tools such as IBM DOORS Next and TestRail
